Applicants sponsored by 'an appropriate regional authority' will be able to apply if they are aged less than 55—there is some flexibility that allows people aged 55 or more to apply). There is (generally) no English requirement. |
|
Successful applicants will be granted ‘provisional’ visas. Permanent resident status will be granted if the provisional visa holder meets departmental requirements after they arrive in Australia. |
|
Under the current investment class the minimum investment is A$1.5m in a state or territory bond for 4 years |
|
If you are sponsored by 'an appropriate regional authority' the scenario will be A$750,000/4 years. |
|
Unless sponsored by 'an appropriate regional authority' all applicants will have to be aged under 45 and have vocational English. |

Is there a direct path to Permanent Residence?
Yes, using the new Business Talent Visa . Under this new subclass you must establish a business in Australia or participate in an existing business. And you must intend to manage the business on a day-to-day basis.
Applicants will be awarded permanent resident status from the outset if they are 'high flyers' and have the support of a State Premier's office or the office of the Chief Minister of a Territory.
Other applicants will have to go through a two stage process: First, application for a 4 year temporary visa and Second, obtaining permanent residency during those 4 years.
Most people will choose the "Sponsored" path, so let's look at that first-
